Towards the end of EDU 3217...

Finally this is the last blog that I am going to post for EDU 3217. Seriously so many things I learn when I start blogging for this course early semester. As for this last blog, I will write everything that I miss in all the previous blogs that I post before.
First I want to talk about my lecturer and my tutor. They have done such a wonderful job on teaching this course of EDU 3217- teaching the language of drama. Both of them are such a good lecturer and tutor. They are Dr. Edwin and Mr Harold. Seriously I am not lying you guys. You may ask my course mate and they also will give you the same positive comments on them. So far I am enjoy study this course and I notice that the time move so fast as if I feel that I am just entering this course yesterday.
Ok enough with the lecturer and the tutor. Now let’s talk about something else. Yes, simulated teaching is a nice thing to talk. In the previous blog I have tell you about the set induction stage right? As for this last blog for EDU 3217, I will tell you what happen and my experience for the other two stages that I have to complete which are pre-reading and while reading stage. The activities that I prepare are fun and interesting. I ask the students to draw the characters on the mahjong paper. From there I can see the hidden talent of my students aka my course mates. I have to complete these two stages in 20 minutes time and focusing on characters and traits in the play “Pygmalion” by Bernard Shaw. About the nervous attack, I still have it but I manage to control throughout the whole session. I also get positive comments from my course mates who are evaluating me. But there are some areas that I need to improve. How I know their comments? Of course for the evaluations form that they have to fill in so do me. Thanks guys and girls for evaluating me. By doing simulated teaching in EDU 3217, I can improve on how I am going to teach plays and drama for my future students. It is a new experience for me. I personally think that simulated teaching is good for future teachers. It helps us to build confidents and many more.
Done with the simulated teaching, I want to tell you that a few days earlier I and my course mates meet this writer name Kee Thuan Chye. Yes, he is one of the play writers which I have to learn his play for this course. His play is nice and very simple. May be it is because he uses the language that is I am familiar with in our Malaysian local context. I forget to tell you that his play entitle “The sword fish then the concubine”. I enjoy reading his play. This is the first time I meet him and I think he is such a humble and kind person. On that particular day, he discusses on how he involves in writing and he talks also about his latest works and of course his play that I study “The sword fish then the concubine”. It nice talking with him but there are some parts that I am really agree with him. He talks about blah…blah..blah.. sorry guys I cannot tell you. Let me keep this thing for myself ok? Thanks. One thing for sure it good to see him and I can know what are the influence that cause him to write like that. EDU 3217 is not only giving me the chance to learn plays and drama but it also helps me on understanding about others.
The last thing that I want to talk in this final blog is? Of course, the feeling and the experience writing blogs for EDU 3217. At first before I start blogging, I ask myself what on earth is blogging and why I have to blog in the net? I feel that this is troublesome for me. But then this is one of the requirements that I have to full fill in this course, I just do it. Later on after posting a few blogs and read comments about others I start to like it. This is also a new experience which leads me to the new knowledge that I gain from EDU 3217. As a future teacher, Dr Edwin mentions that we cannot be left behind from our students. We have to be a few steps forward from the students. By logging I find that it is one of the medium that I can use to express my feeling and thought so that others will know about it. I also can know about others by reading their blogs. Until this final blog, I still feel that blogging also is important as one of the information medium that can be use to spread information. It ups to us whether to use blogs for the positive and negative reasons.
Even though I say that this is my final blog for EDU 3217, I am not sure whether I can stop blogging because I enjoy it so much. So see you guys again in the next coming blogs..Before I end this so called final blog, I want to thanks Dr. Edwin for introducing blogging to me..

Movie and Movie and Movie

Movie, movie and movie…I have to watch several types of oldies film while I am undergo this fastastic course of Edu 3217. All the films are actually related to the plays that I need to learn in this course. The last movie that I watch is title “A streetcar named desire”. The movie is in black and white pictures like our P. Ramlee movies.So, in order for me to see all the details in the movie; I have to double up my vision just to watch this movie…nah just kidding. The movie somehow is not really bad at all. Seriouslly, I have to be patient when I watch that film. Same goes to the movie “Oedipus Rex”. Its true man I have to struggle to see and understand that movie. Some time I am wondering how others can this kind of movie??? May be they have the passion and courage to do so. But if the movie quality is better for sure I am going to enjoy both two movies. Lucky I have read both plays so it is not so hard for me to understand the movies at all.
Besides that, another movie that I need to watch while learning this course of Edu 3217 is Macbeth and King Lear. I am quiet enjoy watching both movies because I have finish reading the plays. And for the first movie that I have to watch early in this edu 3217 is name “Elizabeth”. It is fantastic and I really-really enjoy myself watching that movie. It seems that I am into the movie. A woman can rule a kingdom, that good man. One more reason that I enjoy this particular movie is due to the quality of the pictures and the setting is brilliant! I like that. For some reasons there is actually something happen during the movie session. It begin with Dr. Edwin enter the class and checking the attendance. He become so angry with us and takes away the dvd. So we cannot continue watching the movie “Elizabeth”.
By the way, watching movie version of the plays make me realize that it is actually helping me to have some better understanding towards the play in EDU 3217 regardless the qualities of the movies. It is true that EDU 3217 has improved my knowledge especially on analyzing the whole play. All the knowledge that I get in this course can be use in my daily life and help me become more mature. Thanks to Dr Edwin and Mr Harold for showing us (me and my course mate) the way to understand the teaching the language of drama much more better. As to conclude this 9th blogs of mine, I can say that I am enjoy watching all the movies and I can learn more about plays and drama in EDU 3217 .With that thank you.
